Seapower Marine Jersey is a young, dynamic and growing boatyard with premises at La Collette. We are seeking an experienced Marine Engineer to join our expanding team. The candidate must have previous marine or automotive repair background and should have a positive outlook, a can-do attitude and excellent customer service skills. The job entails repair, servicing and diagnostics on both large marine diesel engines, generators and outboards. Tailored training will be provided for all brands we represent.
Johnathon lives and breathes boats, when he is not in the workshop or fixing a customer’s boat he is on the water. Born in Jersey, Johnathon has grown up with boats, his career began at age 17 with a Marine Engineering apprenticeship with a reputable island firm. He successfully completed 16 years with the company and attended all Volvo Penta, Perkins Sabre and MAN training courses to keep him abreast of industry and manufacturer changes and to ensure the clients needs were always being met. From there Johnathon established Seapower Marine with the goal of not only providing exceptional knowledge, but superior customer service to boot!
Having worked for many years as an Office Manager to a large local electrical company, Maggie has chosen to join Seapower Marine, mostly because Seapower is young and vibrant with a ‘can do’ attitude and drive to push forward. All the qualities that Maggie sees in herself! Maggie loves customer interaction and her biggest challenge is to keep all the boys in line.
Ben is another in the team who’s heart is firmly in the sea. Ben is an avid surfer and fisherman so working on boats comes naturally. Having started his career as a car mechanic, Ben soon switched across to marine and after completing a brief transitional training course with a local marine engineering company, Ben was marine ready. Over the years Ben has completed numerous Volvo Penta and Evinrude outboard courses, helping him to increase his knowledge and fault find engine problems with ease. Engine electronics and diagnostics are a favourite of Ben’s and he continues to represent Seapower Marine at all Volvo Penta training courses.
Jo is a local lad who has a long history of working with engines and has recently achieved his Level 3 motor mechanic with diagnostic and electrical qualification through Highlands College. Before joining the team at Seapower Marine Jo worked for a number of years at high profile specialist garages repairing automotive engines. Jo’s mechanical career choice naturally stemmed from his outside interests which includes rebuilding bikes and cars. Whilst at Seapower Marine Jo has attended a number of marine related specific training courses, making him quite methodical and particular when it comes to working on customer’s boats. However, we are yet to ignite his passion for boating!
Leo gained a large amount of valuable experience working for Ports of Jersey as a marina attendant. He completed a degree in Marine Sport Science at Plymouth University, where he also attained a commercial diving qualification. In his free time, Leo enjoys keeping on track of his fitness, going out fishing, and diving. Leo shows energy, enthusiasm and determination in all aspects of his job and provides excellent customer service. With a wealth of skills, electronic and water system installations in particular, Leo is a fountain of knowledge in all things marine and is a very valued member of the Seapower team. He has recently returned to the Seapower team after extensive travels, where he gathered a wide range of knowledge and experience working from small craft to super yachts and commercial boats. This has set him in good stead to provide high quality workmanship and he is now heading up our maintenance and valeting division.
Alastair is our latest employee, and having a keen interest in surfing, diving, jet skiing and other sports, he has fitted in well within the Seapower team. With over 10 years of knowledge and experience stemming from an early career in vehicle maintenance as a qualified vehicle technician, Alastair has chosen to transfer his skill set to the marine world. He prides himself on high quality of work and customer service and is always eager to expand his knowledge through training courses and working closely along side our experienced marine engineers.
Rhees began his extensive career in the marine industry back in 1992. Through working with various engineering companies around the island, he picked up the trade rapidly. After committing himself to the profession for over two decades, Rhees offered his unique skill set to the RNLI by volunteering on their All-Weather Lifeboat, and later accepted a two-year full-time mechanics position. Boats have always been a passion for Rhees, who spends his spare time on his own vessel and takes part in a variety of water sports, including windsurfing, scuba diving and spearfishing.
Our new member of the team John has the task of managing Seapower’s brand new parts department. He enjoys a challenge in assisting our customers’ requirements. He enjoys boating in his spare time and meeting people with same interests. He has worked with the public in numerous jobs throughout his career and is a friendly face to help with any of your queries in-store.
